Jack White Bought Elvis’ First Record For $300k And Will Reissue It For Record Store Day
Jack White is a big fan of gimmicks on Record Store Day. Just last year, he recorded, pressed, and released a 7-inch in a single day. This year, he’ll be reissuing the first vinyl record that Elvis Presley ever put out. White told Billboard in a new interview that he picked up a copy of Presley’s first single at an auction earlier this year for $300,000. The single features covers of “My Happiness” and “That’s When Your Heartache Begins,” two songs from the 1930s, and was originally released in 1953. White will reissue the single via his own Third Man Records for this year’s RSD.
